Anglers Face Hard Work This Year

Marcus Copperi predicts anglers could find fishing tough when the Manning Point Classic begins on Friday.

Reports from Manning Point have shown low game fish numbers so recording high tag and release results could be difficult said Copperi.

"They (anglers) always work hard because they want to win but they'll have to work extra hard this year" he said.

"I've been told by a friend in Townsville that there hasn't been many fish around."

Regardless, Copperi said said he expected Team Alpha/Blue to again take out the title.

"They're probably the favourite but there will be strong competition from the other teams", he said.

"This year there are the same number of boats as last year which is less than we were hoping for.  The price of fuel is making it hard for some people", he said.  The majority of last years top boats will lead the charge including Fish 'n Fill and Charisma.

There is one new recruit and their quick ascension at the expense of Donut has put a few noses out of joint. Barnacle's loss is out gain.
